George Williamson’s artwork was inspired by the time he spent working with steam engines of many kinds, starting as a student/apprentice/fitter in Ireland in 1953, followed by participation in restoring, operating, and rebuilding steam powered equipment until his retirement from engine service at 79 years of age. Self taught, beginning in 1980 with oils, then later acrylics. He portrayed steam the way it actually was, often well worn and dirty, but always impressive and alive.
