Shayne Stoakes was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho, where his love for trains and nature began. He began working for Union Pacific Railroad as a fireman/oiler in 1991, and today serves as the railroad’s Safety Coordinator for the mechanical department in Pocatello. A self-taught artist, Shayne covers a wide variety of subjects in his work, including railroading, aviation, wildlife, landscapes and portraits. He works primarily in acrylics, but also enjoys pencil and oils. Known for his close attention to detail and realistic style, his intention is to inspire you to experience the scenes depicted in his art, bringing to mind memories of a simpler time and days gone by.
