Mark Harland Johnson

Mark Harland Johnson's first memory was of a boxcar. His dad took him trackside and, with total awe, he reached out and touched this magnificent giant. It was as awe-inspiring to him then as it is now. From the cities to the Great Plains, along rivers, over vast mountains and even across the open sea, the railroad has been an integral part of the great American landscape. It is Mark Harland Johnson's love of the railroad and this glorious landscape that led him to be a painter of the great American railscape.
